Male Voice Actor Paul Nixon

My decades-long experience in voice over has been built through a combination of working with amazing fellow voice over talent, and workshops and coaching from experienced professionals in North America. I always challenged myself to expand my range and versatility.

It also didn’t hurt that I had extensive experience in music radio and television, and worked as a communications and training specialist.

At age 10, I got my first tape recorder and a Radio Shack mixer, and I’ve been playing with audio ever since. My first voice over job was when I was just a pup at the age of 12 when I tagged a radio spot for my dad’s campaign for city councilman.

I got my “real” voice announcing classical music and as a newsreader on a public radio station. Many opportunities for commercial and promo voice overs began to fall in my lap. That’s when I decided to build my own home studio providing clients around the globe with professional voice overs.

Oh, and I also have an Emmy award that is proudly displayed above my studio monitors, thankyouverymuch.

An obscure hobby

My time behind the mic and interest in audio led me to my own geeky exhilaration of building a home studio and collecting microphones of all shapes and sizes. I often ruin movies and TV shows for others around me by identifying microphones by model number when I see them on screen. Ask me about my collection and I can regale you with the ones I’m most proud of.

When I’m not behind the mic, I’m banging on drums, plucking a bass guitar, playing my collection of old vinyl records, or twiddling knobs while recording music in a band called “The Big Cats.”  We’re on SoundCloud, if you care to look us up.
